FENWICK BROTHERS, Melbourne penny, undated (A.121). Red and brown, nearly uncirculated, probably the finest known.
Orlando Fenwick left Liverpool on 22 August 1852 and arrived in Melbourne the following November. He opened a drapery business with goods he had brought from England and in 1857 he moved his business to 225, King St, Melbourne. He was joined by his brother Pascoe. This token coin (made by an unknown British mint) was produced by the Fenwicks circa 1862. Mr Fenwick was a city councillor for many years and Mayor of Melbourne in 1871.
