IMPERIAL CHALLENGE SHIELD MEDAL, for Cadet shooting competitions, in bronze (47.5mm) edge engraved 'P.F.Holmes R.A.N.R. L'ton 1919'. Nearly extremely fine.

Third place in the competition is recorded as won by R.A.N.B. Launceston. For details of this medal competition see Shooting Awards and Prize Medals to Australian Military Forces by John O'Connor, p.146-8, fig.326. Together with copy of newspaper article reporting on 1919 competition.
