GREAT BRITAIN, (New Zealand related), Morant War Hospital, in silver (31mm), reverse plain, WWI issue c. 1916-18, Brokenhurst, Hampshire. Toned, extremely fine and rare.

The building was originally paid for by John Morant. It became a hotel in 1902. Situated in the heart of the New Forest, the hotel was taken over by the New Zealand authorities in June of 1916 and became the 'No. I New Zealand General Hospital'. During 1918 there were nearly 1600 patients accommodated in the hospital. Four pages of information included.
