PELOPONNESOS, Corinthia, Corinth, (350-300 B.C.), silver stater, (8.31 grams), obv. Pegasos flying to left, Q below, rev. head of Athena to left, wearing laureate Corinthian helmet over leather cap, Nike flying to left behind with tainia or fillet, below to left below chin I, (cf.S.2626, Ravel 1030, BMC 350, SNG Cop. 110-1, Calciati 420). Scratched on obverse, otherwise good very fine and framed in suitable display frame, coin visible behind glass on both sides.
Exhibited Copperfield Gallery, Mosman, NSW, "Exhibition of Ancient Numismatic Art 550 B.C. - 600 A.D.", November 1976, item number 16 and later exhibited Vivian Art Gallery, Hurstville NSW, October 28-9, 1989 item 4 ($450). A copy of the Copperfield Gallery catalogue is included with the lot.
