CASSIUS, (43-42 B.C.), silver denarius, mint (Smyrna) moving with Brutus and Cassius, (3.83 grams), obv. diademed head of Liberty to right, C. CASSI. IMP LEIBERTAS around, rev. jug and lituus, LENTVLVS SPINT below, (S.1447/2, Cr.500/3, Syd.1307, C. Cassius 4). Minor edge crack, (4 o'clock on reverse), otherwise bright and nearly extremely fine.
Ex Harlan J. Berk with his ticket. Caius Cassius Longinus (before 85 B.C. - October 42 B.C.) was a Roman senator, a leading instigator of the plot to kill Julius Caesar and the brother in-law of Marcus Junius Brutus.
