CEYLON, (Sri Lanka), Anonymous issue, Kahavanu or base gold stater, 10th-11th century A.D., (average 4.4 grams), De Silva and Codrington type II and IIIA, about fine style, varieties 'jasmine and bud', 'ball and annulets' (4) (first not noted in Codrington, RRR), (cf. de Silva 23, 37, cf.M.825-5a, cf.Cod.9, 10, p.56-57 Pl.III, 47, 51). Good very fine and rare. (5)
