CEYLON (SRI LANKA), under Portuguese rule, silver tanga 1631, obv. ornate arms, rev. gridiron of St. Lawrence S - L, (KM.9.1, cf.M.2143 [date with countermarek]). Fine - very fine, rare.

The Portuguese fort at Colombo was the fortress of St. Lawrence. This is the first dated issue.
