CEYLON, (Sri Lanka), but struck at Travancore, c.1790-1860, silver fanams (105) of Rama Varma V (KM.29) or earlier, together with similar imitative types. Mostly very fine - extremely fine. (105)

Silver fanams of Southern India circulated in Ceylon and in 1697 the silver fanam was tariffed at 40 doits. The fanams were noted as Tuticorin fanams in the late 18th century at Colombo.
