CN. CORNELIUS LENTULUS, (88 B.C.), silver quinarius, Rome mint, (1.82 grams), obv. Jupiter laureate head to right, rev. Victory crowning trophy, CN LENT in exergue, (S.255, Cr.345/2, Syd.703 RSC. Cornelia 51). Attractively toned with golden highlights, good very fine.

Ex Noble Numismatics, sale 65, (lot 1915). It is likely that this piece commemorates the victories of M. Claudius M.f. M.n. Marcellus over Hannibal in the second Punic War with the capture of Syracuse in 212 B.C.
