AUSTRALIA, New South Wales, Convict leg irons, comprising two hinged shackles joined by a nine-link chain, 19th century, length 670mm. Light powdery rust, otherwise very fine and scarce, includes statutory declaration and description.

Ex Mark and Susan Marshan Collection with certificate. These leg irons were found in 1959 in Sutton Forest at the bridge over the Medway Rivulet adjoining the former summer residence of the NSW Governor.
