GEORGES JACQUES DANTON, military appointment document (36cm x 24.3cm) dated 6 September 1792 under Provisional Executive Counsel of the Republic of France, signed by Danton, co-signed by Monge and Le Brun. Centre fold and some light staining at edge, very fine.
Together with Certificate of Authenticity from Gallery of History Inc, for this document purchased 30 Nov 2005 for US$1,000. G.J.Danton (1759-1794), French statesman, was one of the leaders during the French Revolution and as such became known as ’Orator of the Streets’. Gospard Monge (1746-1818) was a mathematician and strong supporter of the French Revolution. He was part of the committee which invented the metric system of measurement. Charles Francois Le Brun (1739-1824) was a French statesman and twice arrested during the Reign of Terror in 1793 and again in 1794.
