R.A.A.F. Station Tocumwal was a major base during WWII established in 1942 for USAAF heavy bomber units but never used by them. It was the site of the formation of Australia’s first parachute unit, 1 Australian Independent Parachute Company (later 1 Aust Para Bn) trained by Parachute Training Unit which was created as a part of Group 244 RAAF (Army).
