THRACE, Island of, Thasos, (after 148 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (13.582 grams), obv. head of the young Dionysos wearing ivy wreath to right, rev. naked Herakles standing facing head to left, holding club and lion skin, around **HPAKLEOUS SWTHROS QA[SIWN]*, to left in field monogram **HDPI*, (S.1759, BMC -, SNG Cop. 1046). Bright, light weight, porous flan on reverse, very fine.
