L. RUBRIUS DOSSENUS, (87 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome mint, (4.18 grams), obv. Minerva head to right, wearing crested Corinthian helmet and aegis, DOS behind, rev. triumphal quadriga to right surmounted by small Victory in biga, L RVBR[I] in exergue, (S.260, Cr.348/3, Syd.708, RSC. Rubria 3). Of heavy weight, lightly toned, nearly very fine and scarce.

Ex Charles E. Weber collection and Triton VII auction, lot 1357 (part). With detailed collector’s tickets. The chariot on the reverse recalls the entry of the three divinities of the Capitol during the celebration of the public games.
