JULIA MAESA, grandmother of Elagabalus, (A.D. 218-222), silver denarius, Rome mint, issued 218-220, (3.21 grams), obv. draped bust of Julia Maesa to right, around IVLIA MAESA AVG, rev. PIETAS AVG, Pietas standing to left, sacrificing over altar and holding both hands out in prayer, (S.7755, RIC 266, RSC 34a). Light surface pitting, otherwise bright extremely fine and scarce.
