MANUEL II PALAEOLOGUS, (1391-1423), silver half stavraton (quarter hyperpyron), Constantinople mint, (3.71 grams), obv. bust of Christ facing. Sigla P C with letter to each side of Christ, rev. around MANOVHA BACI**L*EVC O **PALEOLâ*OC around the bust of Manuel facing, nimbate, a pellet in the left and right fields, (S.2551, LPC 2 [p.160]). Crudely struck as usual, otherwise very fine.
