ALEXIUS III, Angelus-Commenus, (A.D. 1195-1203), electrum aspron trachy, Constantinople mint, (2.766 grams), obv. Bust of Christ facing, wearing nimbus, legend across, rev. Alexius and St. Constantine standing facing holding labarum between them, traces of legend either side, (S.2009a, Michael O'Hara in Num Circ. 1977 pp.186-8, No.12). Edges wavy, with several small voids in the metal, otherwise fine/very fine and very rare.
