FIRE BRIGADE DEMONSTRATION, Sandhurst, March 1886, in gilded brass (22mm), with ribbon suspension (C.1886/1). Extremely fine and scarce.

Originally named Castleton, the settlement at the Bendigo Creek goldfields was renamed Sandhurst in 1854. However, locals referred to it as Bendigo and after a plebiscite in 1891 Sandhurst was renamed Bendigo. Ex Noble Numismatics Sale 85A (lot 739).
