THRACE, Island of, Thasos, (after 148 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.71 grams), obv. head of young Dionysos to right, wreathed with ivy and band across forehead, rev. Herakles naked standing to left, holding club, lion skin over left arm, to right **HRAKLEOUS* to left **SWTHROS*, below **QASIWN*, M to left, (cf.S.1759, SNG Cop. 1039, Lanz 950, Weber 2335). Well struck in high relief, slight hoard patination on rim, otherwise good very fine and attractive.
