M. BAEBIUS Q.F.TAMPILUS, (137 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome mint, (3.96 grams), obv. Roma head left, X below chin, TAMP[IL] behind, rev. Apollo in quadriga to right, ROM[A] below, M.BAEBI.[Q.F] in exergue, (S.113, Cr.236/1a, Syd.489, RSC Baebia 12). Deep cabinet toning, nearly extremely fine and rare.

An innovative type with the head of Roma facing left and the first appearance of Apollo on a Roman denarius.
