MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.85 grams), Babylon mint, issued c.317-311 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin, dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, in exergue **[BA]SILE[WS]*, MTP monogram in wreath to left, **[A]LEXAND[ROU]* to right, *KL* under throne, (cf.S.6713, Price 3713, BMC 3713, M.717). Toned, nearly very fine, scarce.
