L. AND C. Memmius, L.f. Galeria, (87 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome mint, (3.92 gm), obv. laureate head of Saturn to left, EX SC behind, A below chin, rev. Venus in biga to right, holding sceptre, Cupid flying left above, L.C.MEMIES. L.F./GAL in exergue, (S.262, Cr.349/1, Syd.712, B.Memmia 8). Area of flat striking on reverse, otherwise lightly toned, very fine or better.

Ex Charles E. Weber collection and Triton VII auction, lot 1357 (part). With detailed collector's tickets. This unusual issue was struck jointly by the sons of L. Memmius Galeria and imitates the type he produced twenty years earlier.
