JULIUS CAESAR, (assassinated 44 B.C.), issued c.46-5 B.C., silver denarius, Spanish mint, (3.80 g), obverse, Venus diademed head to right, small Cupid behind at shoulder, reverse, Gaulish captive and Gallia captive seated beneath trophy, [CAESAR] in exergue, (S.1404, Syd. 1014, Cr.468/1, RSC Julius Caesar 13). Old cabinet toning, off centred on reverse, otherwise extremely fine.
