COMMODUS, as Caesar under Marcus Aurelius, (A.D. 176-177), silver denarius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 177, (3.07 g), obv. laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Commodus to right, around IMP CAES L AVREL COMMODVS GERM SARM, rev. around TR POT II COS, Salus standing left feeding snake arising from altar, holding sceptre in left hand, (S.5568, RIC 626-7, RSC 741-741c, BMC 748-9). Lightly toned, very fine and scarce.
