SICILY, Syracuse, reign of Hieron II, (275-215 B.C.), AE 26, (17.80 g), obv. diademed head of Hieron beardless to left, uncertain (plough) behind, rev. horseman prancing to right, holding spear couched, beneath T, in exergue IEP**WNOS*, (S.1221, Calciati 193 [p.359]). Very fine with attractive dark patina.
