SWEDEN, Johan III, (1568-1592), silver riksdaler (29.12 g), Stockholm mint, dated issue 1576, obv. IOHANNES III D G SVE CIE GOT VAN REX, inner circle DEVS PROTEC TOR NOSTER, crowned and armored bust right, holding sword and globus cruciger, with arms below, rev. SALVATOR MVNDI SALVA NOS 1576, standing figure of Christ after resurrection facing holding globus cruciger, (D.8705). Toned, nearly extremely fine and rare.

Sweden struck riksdalers from 1534. This was revived with some modification to its design under Gustavus Vasa from 1542 to 1550, and was again struck from 1569 to 1592. The obverse motif of Christ resurrected was used irregularly until 1653.
