USA, 1928 HAWAIIAN SESQUICENTENNIAL COMMEMORATIVE SILVER HALF DOLLAR. Brilliant, uncirculated.

In a slab by Smart Collect as MS64. Mintage was 10,008, the number includes 50 sand blasted proof presentation pieces. This small issue was struck to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the arrival on the Hawaiian Islands by Captain James Cook in 1778. The bust in naval uniform represents Captain James Cook, discoverer of the Sandwich Island, later known by their true name of Hawaii. On the reverse, the landscape represents part of Waikiki Beach. Standing on a promontory is a native warrior chieftain wearing a feather cloak and holding a barbed spear.
