ITALY, Lucania, Velia, (c.350/340-320/310 B.C.), silver nomos, stater or didrachm, (7.37 g), Period VI, Kleudoros workshop, obv. head of Athena to left, wearing crested Phrygian helmet, ornamented with long wreath, monogram behind, rev. lion standing to left with reverted head, its forelegs on a ram's head, K reversed E monogram below, in exergue **UELHTWN*, (cf.S.456, Williams 378 [same dies, dies of obv.190, rev.266], SNG ANS 1317 [same dies], BMC 68 [same dies]). Good fine, good metal and a very scarce type.
