MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.76 g), Babylon mint, issued c.317-311 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, in exergue **BASILEW[S]*, MP monogram in wreath to left, **ALEXANDROU* to right, XA monogram under throne, (cf.S.6713, Price 3723, BMC 3723, M.[727]); another silver tetradrachm, (16.71 g), Babylon mint, issued c.311-305 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, in exergue traces of **BASILEWS*, MP monogram in wreath under throne, **ALEXANDR[OU]* to right, MI over crescent to left, (cf.S.6713, Price 3756, BMC 3756, M.741).
