EGYPT, Kingdom of, Ptolemy I, (323-283 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, issued 305-283 B.C., (14.16 g), Alexandria mint, obv. diademed head of Ptolemy I to right, with aegis, rev. eagle to left with closed wings, standing on thunderbolt, in front P over monogram **PAR*, around **BASILEW[S] PTOLEMAIOU*, (S.7762, Sv. 255, SNG Cop. 70-1). Grey and gold tone, minor graffito on reverse, nearly extremely fine and scarce in this condition.

Ex Alan Jordan Collection and purchased from Noble Numismatics Sale 65 (lot 1851) and previously from Italo Vecchi Ltd., London, Auction Sale 17, December 15, 1999. (lot 462, illustrated).
