SINGLE TO KIA AT GALLIPOLI: 1914-15 Star. 1141 Pte S.Buckley. 19/Bn. A.I.F. Impressed. Very fine.

Sydney Buckley, boiler maker's helper, age 38, born at Sydney; Enl.06Mar1915 at Liverpool; Emb.25Jan1915; KIA 01Sep1915 at Gallipoli - killed by a 75mm shrapnel shell while on trench duty. The explosion caught Buckley in the chest and death was instantaneous. It was at 3.45 in the afternoon at Hill 60 near Hill 971. His body was buried outside the English trenches.
