GROUP OF FOUR: Military Medal (GVR type 1); 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. 2736 Pte R.S.Palmer. 24/Aust:Inf: on first medal, 2736 Pte R.S.Palmer. 24/Bn A.I.F. on second medal, 2736 Cpl. R.S.Palmer. 24 Bn. A.I.F. on last two medals. All medals impressed. Court mounted, good very fine.

MM: LG 9/7/1917, p6839, posn 30; CAG 8/11/1917, p2937, posn 44. Recommendation: For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty as stretcher bearer in action near Bullecourt on 3rd May 1917. His squad accompanied the attack on the Tramway losing 3 men casualties. As soon as circumstances permitted he organised a fresh squad and continued to bring in the wounded till the Battalion was relieved.
