BASIL I, the Macedonian and Constantine, (A.D.867-886), pale gold semissis, Syracuse mint, issued from A.D. 868-879, (1.26 g), obv. bust of Basil facing wearing crown and loros, around bAS ILEIOC, rev. CON STANT around, facing bust of Constantine wearing crown and loros holding globe with cross, (S.1714, R.1859, DOC 14a, BMC 31). Good very fine and rare.
