THRACE, Kingdom of, Lysimachos, (323-281 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.99 g), Uncertain mint, issued shortly after 281 B.C., obv. head of Alexander to right, with diadem and horn of Ammon, rev. Athena Nikephoros seated to left, supporting Nike, left arm on shield, transverse spear behind, to left in inner left field a monogram of **PURH*, in exergue **STH*, to left **BASILEWS* to right **LUSIMAXOU*, (cf.S.6814, Imhoof-Blumer 65 [p.55], M.-, Thompson -). Lightly toned with golden highlights, with an unusual yet extremely beautiful portrait of the deified Alexander, good extremely fine and extremely rare.
