MACEDON, Kingdom of Philip II, (359-336 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (14.40 g), Amphipolis IIB mint, issued c. 342/1-329/8 B.C., obv. head of Zeus laureate to right, plain border, rev. naked youth or small man (Philip II), on horseback to right, holding palm, and a prow below to left, above **FILIP POU*, (cf.S.6683, Le Rider 419, [Pl.40, p.111] obv. die D175, rev. die R371, Muller 210). Attractive round, grey patina, extremely fine and very rare.

Le Rider knew of only 25 examples of this type.
