PALESTINE, Roman Procurator of Judaea, Pontius Pilate, under Tiberius, (A.D. 26-36), copper prutah, (2.52 g), obv. lituus surrounded by Greek inscription, traces of TIBEPIOY KAICAPOC, rev. date within wreath, LIZ = year 17 = A.D.30, (S.5623, H.1342 [649, 114], Meshorer 230). With patina, off centred reverse, good fine/very fine with a very clear date reading, lot includes descriptive packet.

Of great Biblical interest, this date range also being associated with Christ's crucifixion.
