AUGUSTUS, (27 B.C. - A.D. 14), silver denarius, Lugdunum mint, issued 11-10 B.C. (3.41 g), obv. laureate head of Augustus to right around [AVGVSTVS] DIVI F, rev. IMP XII, across [SICIL] in exergue, Diana looking right, holding bow and spear, dog at feet, (cf.S.1612, RIC 341, RSC 170, cf.BMC 189). Slightly off centred on obverse, otherwise fine and rare.

Ex Collection of Barry Allen Jones with ticket from M.R. Roberts. In commemoration of the victory over Sextus Pompey at the battle of Naulochus on September 3, 36 B.C.
