SEVERUS ALEXANDER, (A.D.222-235), silver denarius, issued 231-5, Rome mint, (2.47 g), obv. laureate bust to right, draped, around IMP ALEXANDER PIVS AVG, rev. PROVIDENTIA AVG, Providentia standing to left, holding corn ears over modius, and an anchor, (cf. S.7927, RIC 252, RSC 508a). Full flan, with edge weakness, extremely fine, a very scarce type.
