PROBUS, (A.D. 276-282), billon antoninianus, Ticinum mint (3.77 g), 1st workshop, 9th emission in 281, obv. helmeted and cuirassed bust to left of Probus, holding a spear over shoulder and a shield, around VIRTVS PROBI AVG, rev. Concordia Militum standing to left, holding standard in each hand, around CONC ORD M ILIT, E in left field, in exergue PXXI, (cf.S.11965, RIC 481, p.343 Milchev). Trace of silvered surface, red and gold patination, extremely fine and very rare.

The E in left field is an abreviation of Equite and may have been Probus' personal signum, or signet.
