TRIO TO POW (TOBRUK): 1939-45 Star; Africa Star; War Medal 1939-45. Unnamed as issued. Display mounted, good very fine.
Together with Regular Army Certificate of Service book; Certificate of Transfer to Army Reserve.
Edgar Bromwich, born 16Aug1904 at Birmingham, England; joined West Yorkshire Regt on 13Aug1920 and served until 12Aug1932; joined Royal Artillery on 12Sep1938; to France with B.E.F. in Sep1939 and present at Dunkirk retreat 1940; taken prisoner at Tobruk 8Apr1941 and sent to Campo 78 at Salmona, Central Italy; spent more than two years as POW until 1943 and in the confusion of Italy's surrender he escaped with a number of other POWs; arrived in England 28Nov1943; Disch.24Nov1945; re-joined Reserves serving from 10Aug-20Nov1950.
