PERTINAX, (A.D. 193), plated denarius, of a barbarous issue, type issued A.D. 193, (3.10 g), obv. laureate head of Pertinax to right, around garbled legend to represent [IMP CAES P HELV PERTIN AVG], rev. around OPI DIVIN [TR P] COS II, Ops seated to left holding two corn ears and left hand resting on throne, (cf.S.6045, cf.RIC 8a, cf.RSC.33). Porous flan, base metal showing through in places under silver wash, very fine/good fine and very rare.
