COLONY OF VICTORIA, Miner's Right issued to J.H.Abbott, to be in force until 21 August 1865, No.23. With folds, pin holes, small tear to centre fold line, some foxing, otherwise fine.

Joseph Henry Abbott (1830-1904), businessman, politician and civic leader. He arrived in Victoria November 1852 and in 1853 opened a general store in Bendigo. In 1858 Abbott was elected to the Sandhurst Borough Council becoming chairman of the municipality and a Justice of the Peace in 1860. Together with two pages of biographical detail.
