AUSTRALASIAN PACIFIC MAIL STEAM PACKET COMPANY, share certificate no.506 for £20, 12 October 1852, named to Thomas Baring Esq., with impressed seal. Good very fine.

Thomas Baring was a partner in Baring Brothers, based in London and one of the world's oldest merchant banks. He was also at varying times Chairman of Lloyd's, Director of the Bank of England, President of the London Institution and Fellow of the Royal Society. He was also a close associate of Benjamin Disraeli, twice British Prime Minister.
