BANKING THE CITY OF MELBOURNE BANK LIMITED, 189[3 in word], seventy six £5 shares, black on buff; together with Bank of Australasia, Melbourne, passbook in the name of J M Holloway Esq, first entry dated 1857, last entry 1862. First item with light horizontal folds, second with foxing to cover, good very fine. (2)

The City of Melbourne Bank commenced business in 1873, was suspended in the financial crisis 17th May 1893, re-opened 19th June but closed 7th August 1895. The Bank of Australasia opened its Melbourne branch in August 1838.
