Albert William Bentley, born 09Aug1893 at Ailsa Craig, Ontario, father Maj D.B.Bentley, OC Base Depot Canadian Medical Stores, Southampton; Canada, educated at University of Toronto in faculty of Arts and History, capable horseman; Enl.18Nov1915; previous military service as Lieut in 6th Battery Canadian Field Artillery up to 19Apr1915 and prior to that with 27 Regt; at time of enlistment with Canadian Government in Dominion Forestry Branch, Dept of Interior ; 28Jul1917 appt to HQs as Adjutant and Temp Lt; 03Aug1917 Acting Capt (Adjutant); 17Aug1918 granted leave to Ontario, Canada; 16Nov1918 returned to 48 (a) Bde and resumed duties of Adjutant; demobilised 30Jun1919; relinquished commission Army Order 101 of 1920, 1st April 1920; granted rank of Captain 03Jun1920.
