Recommendation: On the night of the 18/19th Sept, 1917, between the hours of 10.30 and 11 p.m. on the Menin Road about 500 yds East of Ypres near Hell-Fire Corner. Lieut. Willison was in charge of a party of ammunition wagons. At this point the column came under heavy shell fire. Driver Daniels immediately helped to unhook the horses showing great coolness. As soon as all were clear Lt Willison ordered all men to take cover and mounted his horse to go after the teams. The horse was immediately shot under him. Gunner Daniels ran along to the assistance of Lt Willison who had been stunned by the fall. He succeeded in getting the Officer clear of the shelling. The action of this soldier was an example to all ranks and no doubt saved many casualties that may have happened in the column.
