MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.80 g), Ionia, Miletos mint, issued c.190/170 - 165/150 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus Aetophoros seated left; in left field, star above lion standing left, head right, above civic monogram with additional two monograms to inner right, right field **ALEXANDPOU*, dotted border (S.6713, Price 2207 [p.238 variety with differing second monogram on right], BMC -, Marcellesi 43, M.-). Well centred, good very fine some die rust on reverse, probably the second known example.
