P. CALPURNIUS, silver denarius, issued 133 B.C., 3.92 grams, Rome Mint, Crawford 247/1, Sydenham 468, B. Calpurnia 2, BMC 968, Obv. Helmeted head of Roma to r., behind X border of dots, Rev. Goddess crowned by flying Victory, in biga to r., whip in l. hand and reins in right hand, below P.CALP, in exergue ROMA. Toned, large flan, good very fine, (1427).
Ex C.Pitchfork Collection and previously from the Duke of Northumberland Collection, sold at Sothebys, London, November 4, 1982 (lot 249 part). This Specimen is not described by Rear Admiral Henry Smyth 'Descriptive Catalogue, A Cabinet of Roman Family Coins belonging to His Grace the Duke of Northumberland K.G.', published 1856.
