L. POSTUMIUS ALBINUS, silver denarius, issued 131 B.C., 3.77 grams, Rome Mint, Crawford 252/1, Sydenham 472, B. Postumia 1, BMC 1129, Obv. Helmeted head of Roma to r., below chin *, behind an Apex (Flamen's cap), border of dots, Rev. Mars in quadriga to r., holding spear, shield and reins in l. hand and trophy in r. hand, below L.POST. ALB (ligated), in exergue ROMA. Toned, very fine, scarce, (1428).

Ex C.Pitchfork Collection and previously from the Duke of Northumberland Collection, sold at Sothebys, London, November 4, 1982 (lot 249 part). This is the Specimen described on p.195 by Rear Admiral Henry Smyth 'Descriptive Catalogue, A Cabinet of Roman Family Coins belonging to His Grace the Duke of Northumberland K.G.', published 1856.
