C. CONSIDIUS PAETUS, silver denarius, issued 46 B.C., 4.18 grams, Rome Mint, Crawford 465/5, Sydenham 994, B. Considia 5, BMC 4091, Obv. Helmeted bust of Minerva to r., wearing aegis, dotted border, Rev. Victory in quadriga to r., holding palm branch and reins in l. hand, and wreath in r. hand, C. CONSIDI in exergue. Lightly toned, extremely fine and very rare, (1437).
Ex C.Pitchfork Collection and previously from the Duke of Northumberland Collection, sold at Sothebys, London, November 4, 1982 (lot 439 part). This is the Specimen described on p.47 by Rear Admiral Henry Smyth 'Descriptive Catalogue, A Cabinet of Roman Family Coins belonging to His Grace the Duke of Northumberland K.G.', published 1856.
